How To Use a Ring Mandrel?

To know your ring size, a ring sizer mandrel is handy to have so you can accurately measure an existing ring. This ensures you'll be confident in creating a perfect-fit ring. If you already have the correct size ring, measure the distance between the inside of the upper and inside of the lower edges. This will provide you with the distance in millimeters or inches. Print a chart and determine the ring's size in numbers.

A size 9 is, for example, 2.34 inches or 59.5 mm. It is beneficial to understand when relying on a ring size chart. Standard ring sizes are given in millimeters based on ring inner circumference. Rings are sized on a standard scale to match a woman's size six from jeweler to jeweler.

Before you start measuring, consider the following facts:

  • You must pay close attention to the knuckle size to ensure that the ring slides over it.
  • The size of one's fingers changes with the seasons. In the summer, they swell. During the summer, you must ensure that the ring easily fits.
  • Wider bands fit more tightly. When purchasing a wide ring, it is recommended that you add a quarter size. Before you begin measuring, make sure your hands are warm.
  • Our dominant hand is usually slightly larger. Measure your ring size on the finger you intend to wear it on.
  • A different ring size chart might only show whole numbers. To ensure that the measurement is precise, use a chart that displays whole size, half size, and one-quarter size.
  • Don't measure your finger if it's swollen for any reason.

Metal Ring Mandrel

Metal mandrels are used to shape wire and metal. These mandrels are available in a variety of lengths and widths and can be made of aluminum, or steel. Each wooden mandrel can rotate 360° and is firmly attached to the steel base. Each mandrel has no marks and is smooth. The other mandrel has round, smooth, size 4 to 13 steps that allow you to size rings in precious metal clay working. Wooden mandrels can be separately taken from the stand.
